… Animal Paintings Beyond Realism 02 …
In my last post I introduced my new series of “Animal Paintings beyond Realism”, inspired by a painting group recently created by Studio Tolere. The first of the series featured a dog, the second depicts owls. This painting, in acrylics, gouache, China ink and pastel chalk is called
“Owls in Cahoots”
This title, which sounds wonderful to my ears, was found by my partner Kev Moore. I personally didn’t even know the word “cahoots”. So, for those who are as ignorant as myself, it means something like
“… To be in league with a crime, or conspiracy …”.
Owls being generally considered as solitary creatures, the title here fits perfectly. If they are together, they must be planning something! But don’t ask me what their crime is, or against what or whom they are conspiring: they didn’t tell me! But they are going for it, believe me!
I have painted owls before. I love owls, or let us say, they inspire me artistically. I love the big head, the big wide eyes, and all the feathers. I find them quite spooky too, especially when they rotate their heads, or hoot in the night… their spookiness was enhanced within me after recently watching the David Lynch series “Twin Peaks”, where they used the wonderful phrase: Beware of the Owls, they are not what they seem…
Anyway here is a travel sketch from Lanzarote, with owls and camel.
The painting above is based on little sculptures seen in a gift shop in Playa Blanca in Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, done during a painting trip there in November/December 2012
The following owls are coming from Spain again. “Owl Family” is a watercolour and ink painting of an owl family inspired by little sculptures seen in a shop window in Velez-Rubio in Andalucia in Spain in May 2013
And Finally, an artwork from my “Fractal Paintings” series:
“The Enchanted Owl”
The owl paintings presented in this blog post and other animal paintings are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards. Please “click here to purchase” from the widget below to access my Shopping Cart Online. Then choose the “Animals Art” gallery on the left side, or write “animals” in the search field.
The Giclee prints from the above mentioned Online shop are manufactured in the USA and sent directly to the client from there. For personal or financial reasons it might not be appropriate for everybody to order their prints in the USA. Also, you might prefer to purchase my Giclee prints hand-signed. If so, you can alternatively order directly from me. Simply contact me indicating which painting you are interested in and in which size. Go to Goodaboom Boutique to see a guideline of pricing for different dimensions.
I also sell A3 posters (297mm x 420mm) as high quality digital prints on a Heavyweight White 350gsm paper, each packed in cello with card stiffner.
Poster Price: 50 euros.
They are a great alternative to the Giclee prints, to a more affordable price.
(the prices for the Giclee prints and posters are not including packing&shipping)
Hand-signed prints incur a surcharge of 30 euros.
