I am not really sure if “nightfall” is the appropriate name for this series of paintings. I could probably call it dusk, or twilight too. I mean that time of the day when the night is about to fall over the world, bathing everything in a rather dark but still not colourless light. Well, considering my bold nightfall paintings, certainly not colourless! Probably I got carried away again with the colours, trying to avoid by all means the coming darkness, which, I feel, often looks quite scary in art. I don’t want to make scary art, I don’t like that. My intention in painting nightfall was to use the obscurity to convey rather romanticism and mystery than fear.
Some of these paintings would probably better fit in the sunset series, but well, here they are, this is where I saw them when I painted them, and here they will stay.
These paintings are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards.
