Midday! Considering that I have spent my childhood and early youth in France, midday, “midi” in French, will always mean to me the end of morning school, and, even more importantly, the family lunch which followed. That daily lunch was a wonderful, happy time – at least when nobody tried to make me eat what I did not like! This is why I associate Midday with a feeling of togetherness, happiness and freedom.
Living in the meanwhile in the North of Andalusia, Spain, nowadays midday means a moment of intense, nearly blinding light. Midday means sun, which in turn claims bright warm colours, especially yellows and oranges. This is why my painting featuring this time of the day are mostly in yellow, orange and red tones. Much less blues and greens, which, if I think about it, is not very logical. Midday the sky is generally blue here! But I am often struggling with painting cold colours, green having always been my worst enemy, even if I have learned to like and use some greyish greens and pinky greens.. whatever they are!
These paintings are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards.
