Painting England

I visited England in 2007 on our way up to Scotland and back. Unfortunately I had very few occasions to sketch outside, as it was raining all the time! We had wanted to start in Oxford, but already on the ferry we had heard that the town was actually not accessible because of severe flooding.¬† Instead we diverted for a short visit to Stratford-upon-Avon, but even there the water was everywhere and our Boomobile almost drowned! The rain stopped occasionally though, especially in the Peak District, and here are some of the works I did there, on the way up as well as on the way down. The most frustrating time having been the Lake district: I had seen such beautiful scenery from there on the net, and when we went there, it was all grey upon grey, and one couldn’t even see where waters and earth ended and sky began!

These paintings of England are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards.
