The “Funny Cats” paintings series is published under the witty name “CATalogue” in most of my artist websites. Many of then were created as plays on the word cat, like the title of the series itself.
But I will be honest with you: I don’t really like cats. Although a superb black cat answering to the sweet name of “Caramel” was my first pet as I was a child, and I of course adored it. But what could I know, so young, about the demonic depths of a cat’s soul, about arrogances, trust and faithfulness? Nowadays I have lived long and had many opportunities of observing cats in different parts of the world. And the result of these observations is always the same: they are arrogant and spoiled little f*ckers! And worse: I think I cannot trust them. Also I don’t like the way they walk through the world, awaiting a caress from everybody and feeling offended when they don’t get what they want.
But having said that, I must admit that they look beautiful and there is nothing cuter than a small kitten! And of course, although well aware of their bad soul, I often fall under the charm of any street cat which comes and rubs itself against my legs, gently saying “miaow, miaow”. Yes, they know how to get one!
Anyway, they are so charming and beautiful that they do earn their part in the art world, I think. And while I paint them, I cannot help but love them! Sorry, I never said I was not contradictory in my feelings…
My funny cat artworks, and many others, are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards.
