Painting Birds

I already mentioned my artist sister-in-law from Paris in my Fantascapes gallery. In fact it is her who introduced me to the birds. She is a passionate orthinologist and we spent many hours in the past, on our holidays together, to watch birds and then search for them in our beautiful birds guide. I remember that it was almost my favourite part, probably because of the tension connected to it: trying to visualize and identify “the rare bird”.

But it was a documentary film about birds – I think it was called “Les Nomades du Vent”- by a French actor that really made me want to paint the birds. And my first “real” bird paintings in watercolour, apart from the little funny heroes from my “Lovescapes” series, were strongly inspired by scenes from the film.

These bird paintings, and many others, are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards.

I wished I had more time to dedicate to the birds,  in life as well as in art. Many people find them rather boring, but I find them extremely beautiful and intriguing. In front of my office window there is a big palm tree, and all kinds of birds land on it. Sometimes just to rest, and other times to pick some grains, to fight, or to make love. But every time it is always fascinating to observe them and such a relaxing distraction from the computer work!
