Abstractions and Impressions

Painting Abstractions and Impressions

There was a time, when I first started painting,  when I adored experimenting with materials and techniques. I would say it was a quite clever and less frustrating way to hide my unabilities!  I especially loved to play with colours, finding different ways of  bringing them onto the paper or the canvas, not always with pens or brushes, sometimes not even using my hands and letting nature be the artist. The results were often some kind of abstract paintings, but quite appealing to the eye. I “despised” them though, conscious that they were the result of me not being able to paint real stuff…

My abstraction and impression, and many others, are available directly online as Giclee print in many different dimensions, on paper, canvas or metal, and also as greeting cards.

… Much later on, some years ago,  remembering these artistic sins of my youth, I developed a technique derived from these early experiments and I called the results “Impressions”:  a play on words as well as a description of the result, that’s all I will say for now. Too many people have wanted to copy me, the shy ones looking at my paintings with a magnifying glass and trying to find out by themselves, and the bravest directly asking how the hell I arrived at some of the effects. Of course, one can consider an honour- imitation supposedly being the sincerest form of flattery, but I simply can’t stand it!
